Another Sketch Wars sketch! This is a uniform design for another potential character. I didn’t time myself with this one, so I’m sure I went over ten minutes. Still, ART!

So a few of us are engaging in a Sketch War — kinda challenging each other to do quick loose sketches to break our collective creative blocks. This is my first one, and I’m pretty pleased with him! ^_^ First thing I have drawn in months!

I keep forgetting that I can, you know, actually POST stuff here.

Neil Gaiman gives better advice to artists than anyone has ever given.

My favorite part is where he says that every time he’s done a project “just for the money,” it’s backfired. To paraphrase: if you do something just for the money and it doesn’t work out, you’re left with nothing. If you do work you want to do, if the money doesn’t come at least you’re left with the work.

Reblogged for the bolded line, which was an interesting lesson to verify firsthand in the last few years.

Learning this lesson myself.

Art Nouveau Doors <3

(Photos uncredited as I collected them on my hard-drive a long time ago!)

Guh.

Guh indeed.

Fuck you Tumblr

The last thing I needed was a sexual attraction to doors

This Sensu Brush is totally cool! Born on Kickstarter, soon to be available for all. Coming in May right here.
via Uncrate

WANT.

OOOH.

I’ve been incredibly eager to play with the Sensu. It seems like a much better implementation than the Nomad Compose.

ZOMG WANT

My only question is what apps support it. ArtRage, clearly, is one; what about Procreate or SketchBook? Or does it matter? Reckon we’ll find out in May…

This is pretty hot. Does it approximate pressure sensitivity, though? None of the demo shots let me watch long enough to figure it out.

I just watched a demo of a guy painting a portrait in ArtRage, and it doesn’t seem to be pressure sensitive — he kept adjusting the size of the brush on the fly. ;_; Makes this just a bit less smexy…
